This “Dine With Me” post is featuring Bistro Narra located at 3030 Thomas Street. This bistro has a pleasant atmosphere with high ceilings and extremely courteous staff. Best of all, they are extremely local for me.
We popped in during an off-peak hour so we were seated immediately.
Within 2 minutes of being seated our server brought us fresh bread with butter. You guys already know how much I love a restaurant that brings bread to the table right after seating.
We started off with Crab Cakes, $10, as our appetizer. The cakes were served with lemon aioli and miso glaze. Now, this was my first time tasting miso glaze, but it will definitely not be my last. When I dipped my crab cake into the aioli and then the glaze I really experienced that umami flavour. Overall an excellent starter.
My friend chose to go with the Chicken Parmigiana, $18. The chicken was breaded nicely, the tomato sauce was piping hot, and the cheese was melted perfectly. It was served with spaghetti and tomato sauce with a vegetable medley. The size of this meal was quite large so it was well worth the $18.
I ordered the Surf and Turf, $25. The steak was 6oz and cooked just to my liking. I do wish that the plate had more than one shrimp. However, the one shrimp that I had was well seasoned. The dish was served with grainy mustard potatoes and root vegetables. Both sides were tasty. My meal wasn’t quite as large as the Chicken Parm but I did leave feeling satisfied. Neither of us had room for dessert but I will most definitely return to try their Salzburger Nockerl.
Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience. Compliments to the chef. Check out this bistro if you are ever in the Erin Mills area.
