Devin and I have this problem. We can never decide on where we want to eat. We literally have a two minute argument about it EVERY time. So this time, we decided to just drive and go to the closest place. We ended up driving to Lakeshore and going to Breakwater Fine Dining Restaurant located at 15 Stavebank Road S, on the main level of The Waterside Inn.
As Stavebank Road has parking extremely close to the pier, I have been there about a million times and this was the first time I noticed Breakwater and I am so happy that I did.
As soon as we were seated, our server brought us fresh bread which gave them major brownie points in my books. The bread was perfectly baked.
We chose to start with the Crispy Chicken Bits in Smoked Pineapple BBQ Sauce with Peppercorn Ranch Dip on the side. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The pineapple was a great addition to the barbecue sauce and I enjoyed the little pineapple chunks with every bite. It had a bit of a kick to it which the ranch dip balanced out. Overall it was a delicious appetizer.
Devin got the Seared Beef Medallions with Wild Mushroom Jus. My man is a picky man so he asked for no mushrooms, just jus. Regardless, the beef was excellent. Cooked just to his picky liking. The green beans were well seasoned and the lemon zest made them taste super fresh. The fries were hot and crispy. Picky Man left happy.
I chose to go with the Pan Roasted Atlantic Salmon & Seedling Salad. It came with sea salted avocado, chipotle pepper, and smoked tomato broth. The seedling salad and avocado added freshness to the seafood. The salmon was well cooked with just the right amount of seasoning. The broth was just something else. I don’t even think I can explain how delicious the broth was. It was exploding with flavour and brought the dish together. Picky Man and LMC left happy.
